BAYANG FESTIVAL

About the Project

Bayang, named after the Indonesian word for shadow, is a cultural festival centered around Wayang, Indonesian shadow puppetry. The scope of the outcome encompasses a complete brand identity for the festival, which includes posters,  risograph printing, product design, and UI/UX on the festival website and social media assets.

Shining a Light on Indonesia

The idea for this project stemmed from the issue of how Indonesian culture is often overshadowed by other Asian countries. This campaign aimed to shed light on Indonesian culture, particularly to audiences outside of Indonesia. Drawing inspiration from my exchange program in Maryland, USA, where I introduced my friends to the art of Indonesian puppet theatre, Wayang, the project sought to raise awareness of Indonesia's diverse visual culture. It highlighted the intricate patterns found in Wayang and Batik, showcasing the complexity and beauty of these traditional forms, which create fascinating outcomes that play with form and texture.
